Life Groups

Community is essential to the human experience. God created for relationship, with himself, and with one another. At Hope Church, Life Groups are one of the primary ways we keep a growing church feeling smaller and we work hard to ensure a great mix of people, ages, stages and backgrounds for each group. This is the place to know and be known more deeply. Beginning in 2026 we will start a two-year cycle for these groups. We are excited to grow with you in community and in the way of Jesus.

Life Groups meet every other week (after the 1st & 3rd Sundays of the month) in homes across the city. There are groups at different times/ day/ locations but all groups will open up the bible - to dig deeper into the word shared on the Sunday prior, prioritise prayer for one another and spend time sharing the stuff of life together!

    We’re Laura and Drew, and we’ve called Portsmouth home for the past two years after moving from California with our six kids! Our heart is to see the beautiful, diverse family of God represented in our group — people of all ages, backgrounds, and stories coming together to grow in faith and community. We meet on Thursday evenings at 7pm, and we’d love for you to join us!

    We’ve been at Hope Church since 2017 when we returned from volunteering with Mercy Ships across Africa. Ally and Amy have been involved in worship, kids, and prayer teams, and Ally now leads as Chair of the church’s Trustees. We have two boys, Louis and Toby, who like to make the occasional appearance at the beginning of Life Group sessions! We plan to meet on Wednesdays at our house, from 7:30pm until 9pm.

    In our Life Group, we aim to grow a deeper relationship with Jesus through reading the Bible, praying  together and supporting each other through the highs and lows of life. We enjoy building friendships and community and the occasional Board game challenge. We meet Thursdays at 7:30pm.

    We love opening our home to welcome those of all ages and stages of faith to grow together in our relationship with Jesus - and also a deeper awareness of who we each are as individuals.  We look forward to creating a space round the table for young and old alike.  We are looking to meet earlier in the evening so those with younger kids can come together as a family. We will meet Tuesdays at 5:30pm.

    Debbie’s been part of Hope Church for 10 years and Bev even longer. 

    We are a group who love learning & speaking together about God's word. We believe strongly in the importance of supporting each other through life’s trials and tribulations whilst giving God the glory. 

    Our group is a place where all conversations are welcome and no subject is forbidden. We like our group to feel comfortable to talk about things in a safe space.

    Hi, we are Tracy and Olly. We've been living in Portsmouth for over 30 years and at Hope Church for about 15 years. We have 2 older boys, who have flown the nest and our daughter, who is just about to. We love spending time with our multi-generational church family and always want our home to be a place of peace and refuge to everyone. We know following Jesus is a true rollercoaster and that it's the community around us that helps us to hold on! We'd love you to join us for chat, worship, bible study and the occasional glass of wine and cheese 🧀
